Psychologically, stress, tension, anxiety and even depression are reduced. This in turn further reduces the effects of any disorders that are caused, or made worse, by worry. Massage therefore works as a form of assisted meditation.

Massage has evolved into many forms today and the choice of styles and techniques may appear somewhat bewildering! But whatever style you choose, the common thread that runs through all types is that massage provides you with a space, time and platform to focus on and improve your physical, mental and spiritual health.

Massage has been around for at least 5000 years, first with the Chinese, but also the Hindus, the Japanese and more recently, the Egyptians. It became especially popular during the Greek dynasty. Although massage virtually disappeared during the Middle Ages, in the early nineteenth century, a system of massage was developed by a Swede, Henreich Ling. His concept was gradually accepted by the Western world and with the introduction of a Massage Department at St George's Hospital in 1899, massage grew steadily in popularity.
