EXTRA INFO : Helpful hints pg 1/4

Whether you have had osteopathy or massage before or you are a first timer, here are some tips that will help you get more out of your visit:

• Like anything new, osteopathy and massage may seem a strange experience. Try not to be self-conscious about your body. Clients of various shapes and sizes are welcome.

• Remember that your modesty is always respected. Only undress to a level you feel comfortable with.  For examination of areas of a sensitive nature, your written consent will be required.

• Part of your consultation includes the gathering of information. For osteopathy, a detailed examination is usually required. This usually takes between 15 and 30 minutes on your first session. For massage, a brief medical history is required which helps make your massage a more unique experience. Whilst some questions may seem unrelated to your presentation, this is essential since it ensures you are safe to treat. Remember to provide updates of any changes in health.

If you have any medical imaging reports (e.g. MRI or X-ray) or results from previous blood tests, these may be useful to bring – especially for osteopathy.
